November 18, 2025––Public Media Infrastructure (PMI) welcomes the resolution of recent legal proceedings surrounding the Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s (CPB) public radio interconnection grant, marking a new chapter of collaboration and innovation across the public media system.

PMI—a nonprofit established by public media leaders American Public Media Group (APMG), the National Federation of Community Broadcasters (NFCB), New York Public Radio (NYPR), PRX, and the Station Resource Group (SRG)—was awarded a $47 million, five-year grant by CPB to develop the next generation of digital content distribution infrastructure and services for local public radio stations nationwide.

With the path forward now clear, PMI will move ahead in close partnership with stations coast to coast. Advancing multiplatform content delivery, audience analytics, and sponsorship tools designed to promote revenue growth, PMI will enable stations to remain vital sources of news and enriching programming for their communities.

“This is a profound moment for public media innovation and collaboration,” said Bill Davis, Principal at Station Resource Group, a founding member of PMI. “Serving the breadth of the system, our focus is to work hand in hand with stations to deliver seamless, future-ready infrastructure solutions strengthening public service. PMI will empower stations of every size and locale to reach audiences wherever they are.”

“PMI is deeply committed to inclusion across public radio,” said Rima Dael, Chief Executive Officer of the National Federation of Community Broadcasters, a founding member of PMI. “NFCB will work with all partners in the system to also ensure that small and rural stations receive the assistance they need to strengthen their technical capacity and participate fully in this new phase of distribution. When smaller stations succeed, the entire system grows stronger.”
