PMI is an independent nonprofit forging the next era of infrastructure and innovation for the American public media system. Funded by a five-year, $47 million grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, PMI was founded by five leading public media organizations — American Public Media Group, National Federation of Community Broadcasters, New York Public Radio, PRX, and Station Resource Group — on a core belief: that the technology required to serve today’s audiences is too costly and complex for any local station to build and sustain alone. PMI exists to ensure local public media stations have the tools, technology, and shared services they need to keep serving their communities in the post-CPB era.
